Specimen Shipping

Specimens must be packed and shipped according to the test specific instructions and in compliance with all applicable government and IATA regulations. A specimen may not be viable for testing if it has not been maintained at the specified temperature. Please refer to the test menu for each test or contact Client Services for detailed shipping requirements.

To ensure that your specimen will be accepted for testing please be sure the following requirements have been met:

  • Specimen was collected in the container specified on the test page; broken or leaking specimen containers will not be accepted for testing
  • Specimen must be packaged in an individual zip-lock bag. Multiple specimens should NEVER be placed together in a single zip-lock bag
  • Specimen was shipped in compliance with all applicable shipping regulations such as IATA and DOT
  • Specimen has been maintained at the temperature specified on the test detail page
  • Specimen arrives at Viracor-IBT within the specified timeframe stated on the test detail page

Viracor-IBT handles specimen types that are ambient and frozen. Specimens must be separated by temperature requirements. Please check the test detail page for each test or contact Client Services for additional shipping instructions.
