Immunology
Viracor-IBT Laboratories has a rich history spanning more than 27 years of proven leadership in immunology research and clinical diagnostic testing. Our comprehensive testing menu addresses the clinician’s need to assess immune system function in these situations:
-
Bone marrow and solid organ transplantation
-
Primary immune deficiency
-
Acquired immune deficiency syndrome
-
Autoimmune diseases
-
Hypersensitivity
-
Vaccine efficacy
Viracor-IBT offers a number of novel tests to evaluate the innate and adaptive immune system. Our exclusive Pneumococcal Avidity test, for example, provides the clinician with specific information about the patient's B cell function by assessing the avidity of a patient's pneumococcal antibody response in conjunction with the pneumococcal antibody concentration. Viracor-IBT's cutting-edge Mannan-Binding Lectin (MBL) Pathway testing service employs a series of tests to identify innate immune system deficiencies which can predispose patients to serious and recurring infections.
In the area of transplant medicine, Viracor-IBTs extensive menu of assays assists clinicians in diagnosing, treating and monitoring the most critical patient cases during acute conditions such as graft versus host disease (GVHD). Monitoring inflammatory cytokines during the pre-transplant conditioning phase may provide an indication of GVHD and other adverse conditions following hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT)1,2,4,5. Post-transplant, studies have demonstrated the link between elevated cytokine levels and transplant related complications such acute GVHD.1,2,3,5
